The chain of Florida Keys coral islands is legendary for its lore of
pirates and sunken treasure, but today countless visitors have discovered the real
treasure of Florida Keys lies just offshore, its world-class diving and snorkeling. The
waters offshore of Key Largo Florida offer some of the best scuba diving in the world.

World".
Key Largo, Florida was one of the first areas in the world
to dive into conservation of its marine habitat. John Pennekamp Coral Reef Park was
founded in 1960 and the Key Largo National Marine Sanctuary was created 1975. As a result,
the reef has been protected for more than four decades. This protection has provided a
uniquely rich coral environment where the 600 species of tropical fish are numerous and
friendly – Key Largo is a veritable paradise for diver and snorkeler.
Key Largo is best known for its clear water, shallow reefs, and deep wrecks. The
shallow reefs provide world class diving for scuba divers of all ages and skills. The deep
wrecks offer the some of the best wreck diving found anywhere.

Fishing off the island of Key Largo is truly an adventure. There are
over 200 species of gamefish cruising our crystal clear waters. Take a deep sea charter
out to the Atlantic Ocean and you can fish for sailfish, marlin and dolphin (Mahi-Mahi not
Flipper). Or try a backcountry charter out to the Florida Bay and fish for tarpon and
bonefish. More than 10% of the IGFA saltwater line class and fly fishing world records
have been recorded in Key Largo. And there’s a reason why! Another great place to
fish is in Royal Palm, Boca Raton.

There are many exciting and magical adventures waiting for you in Key Largo,

In addition to diving and fishing
here, you can: swim with the dolphins, shake the flipper of a sea lion, take an airboat

the famous movie "Key Largo" was filmed here in 1948 at what is today the
Caribbean Club, a local watering hole. Sunset cruises are fun too or, just go native - dig
your toes in the sand and relax watching the most gorgeous sunsets in the world. End your
